Snowball # 1- Was a American Standard/Trane Climatuff compressor. Its life began in 1972, running for 27.5 years under brutal lab standards all the while being encased in a ball of ice. It ran non stop at a estimated 3,500 RPM, equivalent to a automobile running 60-70 miles per hour, covering 14.8 million miles.  Snowball # 1 showed up at the American Standard/Trane testing lab as (DOA) for some unexplained reason, but when it was tested it ran perfectly. Well, what do you do with a compressor that's running perfectly? At the American Standard/Trane compressor test lab, you re-weld it & put it into continuous flood test mode.  Five presidents later & after seeing the rise & fall of disco, glam rock & grunge music, Snowball # 1 finally ran out of steam, but left a legacy in the name of the patented American Standard/Trane Climatuff compressor.

Snowball # 2 - Was chosen in 2000 by the American Standard/Trane compressor lab technicians to take the place of its predecessor. Snowball # 2 was randomly chosen from the Climatuff compressor assembly line. It was then encased in a block of ice & has been running non stop since 2000 & is still running today. The American Standard/Trane technicians have tried to break the Climatuff compressor over 900 ways, which has produced a saying at American Standard/Trane, if a product doesn't make it through our test lab it doesn't get made.
