Blower Door Testing Ensures The Tightness of your Home
Modern homes included complex geometries in their designs, which lead to unanticipated breaks in the air barrier of an otherwise tightly constructed home. Blower Door Testing allows us the ability to preform a depressurized or pressurized test using a fan designed to simulate wind hitting the home on all sides with 20 mph wind. Which is measured back at the fan controls as air leakage.
Areas where leakage often occurs but is hard to see or feel with normal everyday life in places such as - chases, dropped ceilings, stairways, chimneys, soffits, brick pockets floored attics, bonus rooms, tube & shower surrounds, recessed lighting, bathroom exhaust fans, electrical & plumbing penetrations, attic access, knee walls & garages.
Louisiana Energy Code Requires Blower Door Testing if
- Spray Foam Insulated & or Energy Star Rated Homes - to ensure proper (ACH).
- Air Tightness of the home to determine proper mechanical ventilation needed.
- The Ductwork is located inside the Thermal Envelope - Conditioned Space.
