What is the difference between American Standard & Trane?

  1. The paint colors. Although they go through the same paint booths & process. American Standard is painted with a light grey color & Trane is painted with a darker grey color.
  2. The nameplate or sticker. Trane gets an orange nameplate & American Standard gets a blue nameplate.

Both Trane & American Standard are manufactured in the same facility. Not only are both brands manufactured in the same facility (in Tyler, Texas), they go down the same assembly line. They are put together by the same people & machines.

Why Two Brand Names If They are the Same?

The major difference in the brands is the distribution network, which varies throughout the country. In some parts of the country the brands are distributed through wholesalers, in other areas it is factory direct.

Every major HVAC manufacturer sells the same equipment under different brand names. The reason being, they can increase market share while honoring distribution exclusivity contracts with different wholesalers. Other examples include Goodman, Daikin & Amana (same manufacturer), Carrier & Bryant (same manufacturer) & Rheem and Ruud (same manufacturer).

So why did Air Service Professionals choose American Standard instead of Trane HVAC Systems? Due to American Standard & Trane having distribution contracts in our area, we are only able to sale either American Standard or Trane. So, we made the decision to promote a Louisiana based distributor in Shreveport to allow a Louisiana business to prosper. They also have top notch service allowing us to provide the best equipment & products for our customers.
